Veteran Family Support

VIRGINIA VETERAN and FAMILY SUPPORT

Virginia Veteran and Family Support (formerly known as Virginia Wounded Warrior  Program) is a unique state program, established in 2008 in response to the growing need to improve and expand services to our nation’s veterans and their family members coping with the impact of deployment, military service, post-traumatic stress, operational stress and/or traumatic brain injury. VVFS monitors and coordinates the delivery of behavioral health, rehabilitative, and supportive services for Virginia Veterans and their families.  The legislation was promoted by Virginia chapters of MOAA, within the Joint Leadership Council of Veterans Services Organizations.

In addition to supporting the creation of the initiative, Virginia Chapters, including our own Virginia Peninsula chapter, help with fund raising.

VVFS monitors and coordinates behavioral health, rehabilitative, and supportive services through an integrated, and responsive system of care. VVFS provides peer and family support and care coordination services to Virginia veterans, members of the Virginia National Guard and Armed Forces Reserves (not in federal service), and their families with a special emphasis on those affected by stress related conditions or traumatic brain injuries resulting from military service.
