In addition to the designated programs below, our Chapter also financially supports an annual JROTC summer encampment where a number of local cadets from various local JROTC programs come together for several weeks where they are exposed to leadership, discipline and traditional military values.

If you are so inclined, we welcome your support.  You may designate support for one or more of these programs or a general donation to the Chapter to be used where the need is greatest. Currently we have five beneficiaries, which are:

1. Fisher House at Portsmouth Naval Hospital

      The Naval medical Center Portsmouth Fisher House is one of more than 60 houses donated to the government by the Fisher House foundation, which are designed to care for the families of patients who may be injured, wounded, sick or terminally ill while in medical treatment facilities. The foundation provides grants to families, allowing them to stay in a "home-away-from-home" near the treatment center. Amenities and admission guidelines

2. Liberty Lounge, Colonial Williamsburg

Located at 405 E. Duke of Gloucester Street in Colonial Williamsburg, the lounge provides a comfortable place to relax. This is a special place within the historic district dedicated to ticketed active duty military, veteran, and retired military and their families. Visitors can obtain tickets at the Visitor Center of Colonial Williamsburg or any of the ticket offices located in the Colonial City.  

3. Honor Flight

“Honor Flight” is a nation-wide program developed to provide free transportation for as many World War II veterans as feasible to visit the National World War II Memorial in Washington DC.  Today, there are 140 Honor Flight Networks coordinating transportation for veterans of WWII, Korean, and Vietnam wars to Washington D.C. to view their respective war memorials. 4. USO of Hampton Roads & Central Virginia

The USO provides rest and relaxation, gaming, food and beverages, Wi-Fi, family support, and emotional wellness. 

5. JROTC/ROTC

ROTC medals are used to recognize outstanding cadets in his or her next-to-last year in the proram who have demonstrated exceptional potential for military leadership. They are awarded  a leadership medal and $25 gift card. In addition $500 scholarships are awarded to seniors in eleven high schools of the VIPMOAA area. 

6. Civil Air Patrol (CAP) 

Newport News Composite Squadron (NNCS) of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) consists of over 100 senior and cadet members from diverse backgrounds, volunteering together to serve our community, state and nation. For youth, ages 12 and up, Civil Air Patrol offers programs and experiences that support the development of teamwork and leadership skills, as well as education programs to further our country's preeminence in Aerospace and Cyberspace.  CAP's overall mission, as the Air Force's Auxiliary, is to perform search and rescue, disaster relief missions, as well as providing aerospace education and leadership programs for its Cadets as well as for educators and school children throughout the Nation.  During the 2022 holiday season, the CAP continues its support of WREATHS across AMERICA.  Use this Sponsorship Form and NNCS will receive some fundraising dollars that will assist it in furthering CAP's Cadet programs and projects.

7. Williamsburg House of Mercy

Williamsburg House of Mercy provides quality compassionate human services to all people, especially the most vulnerable, regardless of faith. We provide a safe and welcoming environment for area homeless to find respite, receive services, and work toward ending their homelessness, and emergency assistance and supportive services to those struggling to maintain housing and regain stability.
