Duties of the Executive Board Officers

President - The President is responsible for overseeing the overall management of chapter activities; presides over all meetings of the Chapter and of the Executive Board;  participates in Quarterly meetings of the Virginia Council of Chapters (VCOC), usually held in Richmond, VA; participates in the VCOC’s annual “Storming the Capitol” event in Richmond; and supports the VCOC’s annual “Congressional Luncheon” in Washington, D.C.

Vice-President – In the event of the President’s temporary disability or absence, the Vice President shall perform the duties of the President. The VP coordinates and maintains the calendar of events and speakers list for the Chapter.

Treasurer – The duties of the treasurer are to collect all moneys associated with annual dues, events, and donations; maintain a record of all moneys received and expended by the Chapter;  report the donations to the Secretary who maintains the donors database; prepares the monthly financial reports and prepares the annual budget.

Virginia Council of Chapters (VCOC) Liaison - Responsibilities include attending the various VCOC activities and preparing Quarterly Reports on chapter activities in advance of the VCOC Quarterly meetings.

Government Relations Committee Chair and Vice-Chair - Duties include writing a Legislative Column for the monthly newsletter; participating with the VCOC Legislative Committee during their Quarterly meetings and other VCOC events. Would also be expected to interact, as necessary, with Federal and State elected officials and/or their staffs in support of on-going Legislative initiatives affecting Active Duty, National Guard, Reserve, military retirees, and/or their families.
